Is selling short/buying to cover actually legal with most brokers? I ask because it seems unethical. ?

I want to cancel a year lease because landlord is short selling. Do I have that right?

I know everyone wants to stay after the landlord sells but I want to move out as soon as possible. Landlord let me know she was short selling less than a month ago. This is in Florida

Our condo monthly payment has gone up a few hundred and we can’t afford the already $3000.00 payments (live in Cali, BAD housing crisis) so we decided to move out. We’re doing a short sale and my dad stopped paying for the condo because we simply cannot afford it and are trying to sell the thing anyways. Two months later, we get a foreclosure notice right when we’re just about to sell the damned place already.. WIll whoever my dad is paying to condo to most likely sow some mercy on us and not foreclose the condo since we are already selling the place?

I remember hearing from my dad that the bank has already accepted the deal and we do have a contract made before the foreclosure noticed, which was recieved today.
