Should I short-sell Google stock (GOOG)?
I own a condo, and I want to short sell it. Can I ask for a short-sell if both my wife and I loose our jobs?
I am particularly interested in the following:
1. Can my bank check my savings (I keep it at another bank) do determine my ability to pay?
2. If I go for a short-sell, am I going to owe anything to a bank afterwords?
3. Will I be responsible for finding a buyer, and do I need to agree on the price with my bank?
4. Do you think it makes sense to leave a job to shortsell the house, and then get a new job? Since I know very little about this process, is there a possibility it will take more than 6 months?

My Dad is on the verge of losing a house he bought a couple of years ago and is trying to avoid foreclosure. He had an agent trying to short-sell it, but the buyer was bidding $10k less than the banks would accept.
My brother and I are considering taking it off his hands.
My questions is – Are there any laws that would prohibit him from shorting it to us? The house is in Suffolk County, NY.

As I understand it, if he short sells it, the loans on his credit will show as “settled” or “satisfied” vs. a foreclosure appearing on his record. Was I misinformed?

To my understanding of short selling, you are betting against a company and are paid basically like normal stocks, except the stocks have to go down, and if they go up, you lose money.
So Circuit City, which is undergoing liquidation and is about to cease to exist is trading at about 10 cents a share. Can I short-sell Circuit City and make 10 cents of every share once it inevitably collapses?
